Dear Parents,
Good morning. I sent a detailed email out on Monday, October 25, 2021 at 9:08 a.m. regarding the Child Protection Unit. Some of you received the email and some of you didn't receive it; for that I apologize. The last 36 hours there have been some questions regarding this unit of study for our students. As of today, I am cancelling the presentation at this time and students will return to their normal PE activities.
For clarification purposes, this unit of study is a mandate from ISBE, but parents have the option to opt their child out of this mandated unit.
I apologize if I did not communicate clearly in my email on October 25, 2021.
More information on the Child Protection Unit will be forthcoming and it's my goal to set up an evening for parents to review this unit of study with the advocacy group and to ask questions. I'll share the date and time once established with the advocacy group.
Again, I apologize for any miscommunication in my email from October 25, 2021.
Sincerely,
Jay P. Smith
